Launching CrunchBase in Europe

The keen-eyed reader will have noticed that we are now adding database-style information to the ends of posts about companies. This is a widget taken from CrunchBase, the global database of startups from TechCrunch.

Today we are launching CrunchBase in the UK and Ireland, and, by extension, across Europe. We’d like to encourage startups to submit their details to the database for consideration. This is a more structured way of getting ‘on our radar’ and also helps others to research your company.

CrunchBase submissions do not go in automatically – they are put through an editing process. But adding your company yourself speeds things up. The more factual and clinical you are about your company (so, delete the superlatives) the faster the entry will be approved by an Editor.

I’d like to encourage all UK, Irish and European firms to get into CrunchBase, and to kick things off here are the 20 companies going on the WebMission trip to Silicon Valley from April 19.

On a side note, it’s worth checking out how the the data can be sliced, so take a look at UK companies, Irish companies, those in London and in Dublin, Cork and Paris, to name a handful.

And don’t forget, you can also add yourself.
