Ooyala scores partnership with Telegraph Media Group, will power its video content

Ooyala, a US-based provider of video platform applications and services, and Telegraph Media Group (TMG) are today announcing that they have signed an agreement for Ooyala to power online video on the publisher’s websites, which includes news site Telegraph.co.uk.

In addition, Ooyala and TMG’s “Euston Project” team will co-develop new technologies to improve the way information is delivered and consumed online.

According to the press release, TMG reaches over 30 million unique users and delivers over a million hours of online video on a monthly basis. With the Ooyala partnership, TMG aims to deliver a higher quality and more personalized consumer experience as it has seen a “dramatic rise” in online video consumption across its websites in 2009.

Members of the Ooyala technical staff will begin working out of the TMG Euston office next week. Prior to this partnership, TMG worked with Ooyala rival Brightcove.

The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Ooyala, which also has offices in London, offers a video platform that enables media companies such as TMG to manage, deliver, analyze and monetize their video content. Its platform boasts a real-time analytics engine that allows clients to view how their online video and associated advertising is being consumed.

Ooyala, founded in 2007, said it plans to invest heavily in the expansion of its operations into the European markets. Late last year, the company doubled its funding to $20 million with a capital injection of $10 million in October 2009, led by Sierra Ventures and Rembrandt Venture Partners. The company says it will be disclosing more information about its mainland Europe expansion plans in the coming months.
