“Augmented reality”? That’s Samsung’s gimmick, BattleTac. Be that as it may, this is Layar, what the Dutch company calls an “augmented reality app that shows you the things you can’t see.” On the battlefield, that is. Mmm.
It’s available for the iPhone and Android-based devices.
The pictures pretty much describe what’s going on here.
You load up the App, attach it to your giant gun, then you can see an additional layer (or should I say layar?) of information. GPS-assisted maps, distances, bird symbols, etc.
I’m going to assume the App isn’t meant for people whose sole interaction with modern weaponry comes via a mouse and keyboard.
