Allmyapps grabs 1 million euros for iTunes-for-apps

The iTunes-for-apps, Allmyapps, has just announced its first round of funding with French VC fund, Elaia Partners – the same firm that has backed French all-stars like Goom Radio, Goojet and Criteo. With 1 million in the bank, the Paris-based company founded in June 2009 plans to focus on product development and emerge as the leading Microsoft-dedicated app store.

Just so happens that Allmyapps, founded by Thibauld Favre and Arnaud Coulondre, is also the company that won the startup pitch competition at TechCrunch Paris in March.

Along the same lines as Download.com, Ninite or Softonic, Allmyapps aims to facilitate the discovery and installation of Windows-native applications. All applications are classified by type – you’ve got Spotify and iTunes in the “audio” section, Seesmic, Windows Live Messenger and Skype in the “communications” section, etc. The site is entirely free – well, except for those paid-apps – and lets users create app-lists that could really simplify tedious reinstallations with a single click. The site currently counts several hundreds of applications, some 300,000 members and over 1 million dowloads.

Plus, while the site is currently available in English and French, we should probably expect to see the company expanding internationally fairly soon as well. In addition to this recent round, Allmyapps has also just announced that they’ve joined the Microsoft IDEEs program, which aims at fostering a select batch of innovative French software startups.
