Following £2m investment, eSellerPro appoints grown up CEO

What do you do after you’ve raised £2m? Put a grown up in charge, of course.

OK, I’m being a little unkind but that’s sort of the message coming through from e-commerce platform eSellerPro, which following a £2m investment from Notion Capital has announced the appointment of a new CEO: Keith Bird, described as a “26 year industry veteran”, will be charged with driving the company’s European and U.S. expansion. He joins from Internet security company SonicWALL where he was VP EMEA.

Meanwhile, previous CEO and founder Chris Farrelly moves over to the role of CTO where he’ll continue to focus on the technology itself.

Commenting on the change in leadership, Ben White, co-founder of Notion Capital, talks up the “management challenge” of a fast-growth company. eSellerPro, which lets businesses sync their internal inventory systems with multiple on-line sales channels, such as eBay and Google, is already handling more than £500,000 in transactions every day. That translates to 100% year on year growth since the company’s inception in 2006, apparently.

Notion Capital says it has been advising the business on how to scale “quickly and globally”. The £2m funding will enable the company to invest in capitalising on existing demand across the European and U.S. markets – so with the appointment of Bird, the coded message here is now that eSellerPro has the money, it’s time to double down on growth.
