Populis reaches 26 million unique monthly visitors, revenues up to 58 million euros

Populis, the formerly public on-demand content company formerly known as GoAdv, has reported record revenues of 58 million euros ($83 million) for 2010. Its network of blogs and ecommerce sites now reach over 26 million unique visitors per month, says the company, which is often dubbed Europe’s equivalent of Demand Media or Associated Content.

Populis posits that it’s been profitable since day one, and that it still has about 20 million euros in the bank, with which it hopes to realize more acquisitions this year. Content production is up to 35,000 articles and videos per month, says the company, adding that it is hungry for more expansion within Europe and South America through 2011.

Popular brands include Excite Europe, Better Deals, Nanopublishing, Blogosfere and the recently acquired Blogo. All in all, the Populis network encompasses 550 fully owned and operated websites in 8 languages.

In total, Populis says it has produced 1 million articles and videos. The company adds that it currently tracks on average over 16 million keywords on a monthly basis with its “scientific approach to media production”.

“In a year that’s already seen an IPO in the US from Demand Media and a high profile acquisition by AOL of the Huffington Post, Populis is positioning itself as the key content on demand player in a consolidating European and South American market, starting the year with the acquisition of Blogo,” said Luca Ascani, co-founder and chairman of the company.

Populis currently employs about 125 people.
