BetaBait, A Service For Finding Beta Users And App Testers, Hits The Deadpool

BetaBait, a service that connects startups with people to try and test early “beta” versions of web and mobile apps, is shutting down effective February 1st, 2013.

The company, which first launched a year ago in December 2011, announced the closure in an email sent to users. As recently as this past summer, BetaBait was showing strength through acquisitions and new product launches, but it seems that it ultimately just wasn’t enough to keep the attention of its co-founders. All three — Cody Barbierri, Austin Westfall, and Rory Thompson — will be moving on to “new projects.”

We’ve reached out for more details, but for now here is the email announcing the closure:

Dear BetaBaiters,

We wanted to take a minute to reach out and thank you for being a part of BetaBait. Unfortunately, we will be closing the service as of 2/1/1013.

While BetaBait has been a successful journey, we as founders have decided to work on new projects.

Rest assured that all of your startup and profile information will be properly purged from our systems.
