And The Winner Of Hardware Battlefield 2015 Is… Voltera

The competition was very fierce for the second edition of our Hardware Battlefield. 15 shockingly good hardware startups competed to win the coveted Metal Man trophy. These companies had a very special CES experience as they all pitched in front of multiple groups of judges in our tent right in front of the Convention Center. The startups were competing for $50,000 and being named the winner of the Hardware Battlefield.

After many deliberations, our judges narrowed the list down to five finalists: Fogo Digital, Looksee, Peeple, Sutro, Voltera. These startups made their way to the finale to demo in front of our final panel of judges, which were 50 Cent, Yves Behar, Jenny Lawton and Matt Turck.

And now, meet the TechCrunch Hardware Battlefield 2015 winner.

Winner: Voltera

The Voltera V-One is a circuit board prototyping printer that enables hardware professionals and hobbyists to cut down their development time from months to days, drastically reducing their time to market. While you build a circuit board at home with some etchant and some clear plastic, Voltera hopes to make the entire process much easier with their printer. Custom circuits, just press print!

Runner-up: Peeple

Meet Peeple, a connected peephole to screen who is knocking on your door. Whenever someone knocks on your door, Peeple snaps a picture and send it to your phone. This way, whether you are home or away, you can monitor who is passing by your home. Peeple is an elegant, compact, and easy-to-use caller ID for your front door. Say goodbye to the days of worrying about what time the kids got home, if the package arrived, or if there’s a potential intruder at the rental property.
