Phil Schwarz

Advisor, Oversubscribed Ventures, Partner, Corazon Capital

Phil Schwarz is a Partner at Corazon Capital, an early stage venture fund based in Chicago and Los Angeles. Phil leads investments in early stage technology companies and works closely with Corazon’s portfolio, including serving on a variety of Boards of Directors. Phil and Corazon Capital also partnered with Erin & Sara Foster to support their creation of Oversubscribed Ventures, an early stage venture fund focused on consumer-touching technology and product companies. The two firms enjoy a close working relationship and Phil serves as an advisor to Oversubscribed as well as on its Investment Committee. From 2014-2016, Phil served as Chief Marketing Officer of Tinder, overseeing the company’s brand, growth and retention marketing efforts worldwide to drive a period of hypergrowth and global expansion, including through the IPO of Match Group (NASDAQ: MTCH) in late 2015. Phil’s prior roles include Vice President of Growth Initiatives at Match Group as well as Executive Director at Kaplan and Kaplan Ventures, where Phil co-founded the Kaplan/Techstars EdTech Accelerator, whose graduates have raised more than $155 million in funding. Phil also previously served as an Associate Director at UBS Investment Bank, and prior to that led numerous technology product development efforts for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Vitria Technology and BP Amoco, and served as Management Consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Phil lectures periodically on Startup Marketing at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he also earned his MBA with honors. Phil also earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, cum laude, from Ohio University’s College of Business.
