Sahab Aslam is a Principal at Sukun Ventures, driven by a passion for empowering early-stage health and wellness startups. With over 10 years of experience in data science, product management, and software engineering at both startups and Fortune 50 companies, like Merck and Prudential, Sahab has a deep understanding of global regulations and best practices for implementing solutions using data and technology. After serving as Head of Data Science & AI at Myriad Genetics, Sahab saw firsthand the complexities of the US healthcare system and the need for innovative solutions to address its challenges. She believes startups are uniquely positioned to drive this innovation rapidly by bringing efficiency and scalability to clinical and administrative operations. As an AI practitioner, Sahab recognizes the importance of responsible innovation and guides startups in navigating the complex landscape of data privacy, enterprise governance, and industry best practices. She works with them to apply established ethical frameworks, stay up-to-date with technical safeguards, and mitigate risks that, if left unaddressed, can hurt users, irreversibly damage a company’s brand, and even jeopardize funding from investors. Sahab is deeply committed to ensuring her portfolio companies deliver impactful solutions with speed and integrity in the rapidly evolving world of AI capabilities and regulations. A dedicated educator, Sahab also teaches data science at UC Berkeley and actively contributes to the entrepreneurial ecosystem through her involvement with Berkeley SkyDeck, Techstars, and HBS Alumni Angels.
