Hackathon

Where Great Products Are Born in 24 Hours
TechCrunch has been uncovering some of the best developers and programmers through Disrupt Hackathons with projects seeing great success beyond the event, like GroupMe which was created overnight and ultimately acquired by Skype for $80M. At Disrupt Berlin 2019, TechCrunch is inviting hundreds of creators from around the world to participate in our Hackathon to show us how they would solve various challenges through creative production and application of technology. True to TechCrunch form, there will be a host of sponsored prizes, including a $5,000 grand prize from us for the best overall project. Hack tickets are now open and accepting applications.
What to expect at the hackathon
This year the hackathon will take place simultaneously during the Disrupt conference in a dedicated section of the Arena Berlin. All hackers will receive Innovator passes to gain access to the hackathon area at the event.
We are capping the number of hacking participants to 500 – apply today if you would like to be one of those 500. Once we reach that cap, there will be a wait list and you will be notified if any spots open up. As per past hackathons, it’s completely FREE to hack at our event.
Over the course of approximately 24 hours, each hack team will ideate, create and submit their products and directly afterwards, the sponsor judges and official TechCrunch judges will go around to each team for a demo of each creation. From this, our top 10 finalists will be selected to demo later that day on the Extra Crunch stage at Disrupt Berlin.
Everyone is invited to watch the 10 finalists present their project in a 2-minute pitch and then we’ll announce the top hack will receive the $5,000 grand prize money.
