OpenAI releases Sora
OpenAI’s day three announcement is a big one: the long-awaited release of the company’s text to video model, Sora. The model can generate videos up to 20 seconds long in 1080p based on text prompts or uploaded images, and can be “remixed” through additional user prompts. Sora will be available to users in the U.S. and abroad (except in the EU) to ChatGPT Pro and Plus subscribers starting today. They also confirmed a faster version of the model called Sora Turbo.
CEO Sam Altman said that ChatGPT Plus members will get 50 video generations a month, while ChatGPT Pro users will get unlimited generations in their “slow queue mode” and 500 “normal” generations per month.

OpenAI announces $200 monthly ChatGPT Pro subscription — and full version of o1
During its 12 Days of OpenAI event, the company announced a new subscription plan for ChatGPT — and it’s very expensive. Dubbed ChatGPT Pro, the new $200-per-month subscription tier provides unlimited access to all of OpenAI’s models.
The tier also includes the full version of its o1 “reasoning” model, which was released as a preview in September. An OpenAI spokesperson told TechCrunch that users can expect “a faster, more powerful, and accurate reasoning model that is even better at coding and math.” o1 can also now reason about image uploads and has been trained to be “more concise in its thinking” to improve response times.
